Governor's revised schedule, which gives greater

uniformity to these payments.

(3) Audit Department. The revised posts and scales

suggested by the D.C.A. (See 5a on the 1936 file) have

been noted for conson when the present Assistant Audita

retires.

(4) The Governor now furwards a revised schedule of

salaries for super-scale posts. The se, with one or

two exceptions, are the same as those in Table H

(enclosure to 5 on the 1936 file). The exceptions

are (a) that there is no mention of duty allowance to

be paid to the Colonial Secretary in the present

schedule.

I presume it is intended that this should

be paid as in the original table (duty allowance of

$250 a month) but perhaps we might comment to the

Governor to this effect. (b) The salary of the

principal Assistant Colonial Secretary is reduced to

£1,350 a year. This is a considerable reduction

since he originally received salary on the scale of

£1,500 by £50 to £1,800 and the first schedule at

Table H proposed that he should be given a salary of

£1,600 a year. The Governor is of the opinion,

however, that the reorganisation of the Secretariat
